In 1986 November in the Great Hall of the people, Dongfeng  and Cummins first cooperated and signed license production agreement of  B series engine. Imported the most advanced diesel power into China, DCEC opening up a new chapter of win-win cooperation.

B series engine has brought a a very long period power advantage of Dongfeng truck.

In 1991, equipped with Cummins B series diesel engine, Dongfeng truck began export to Southeast Asia. The power was widely praised by local users. The two sides began to explore deeper form of cooperation - joint venture.

In 1996, Cummins and Dongfeng set up Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd(DCEC). Mainly produce Cummins C series 8.3L diesel engines. After 20 years of development, Dongfeng Cummins become China's leading engine production base with an annual output of more than 20 million units.

Cummins power and Dongfeng truck cooperated together and wined a wide range of trust in domestic and foreign customers.

In 2003, Dongfeng and Cummins expand further cooperation, integrated of  B series and C series and  brought in a new electronic control engine platform. Dongfeng Cummins became the largest and most technologically advanced production baseof  China's heavy-duty diesel engine industry.

Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Cummins cooperation also extends to the upstream and downstream industry chain. Since 1994, two parties had invested in the formation of two filter systems and other parts manufacturing enterprises.

Since 2004, the cooperation had been upgraded, and has been carried out in the field of product research and development. In 2005, Dongfeng and Cummins jointly developed 13L heavy-duty engines.

In 2006, Cummins and Dongfeng Cummins co-investment in the formation of the East Asian R & D center officially put into operation.

In 2012, DFM and Cummins Emission Treatment System started to produce a joint venture to meet strict emission regulations of the post-processing products, not only to the domestic market, but also to meet the international market requirements of different laws and regulations.

In 2013, Shanghai Fleetguard Filter Co., Ltd. put into production in Wuhan.

In 2015, Dongfeng special commercial vehicles and Dongfeng Cummins signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the vehicle and engine joint product, system matching and other aspects of all-round cooperation. In 2015, Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile and Dongfeng Cummins formally signed a cooperation agreement, created a broader market prospects through the products, markets and services.

The Gen Truck  projected started. Basic truck is Dongfeng Kinland, will be equipped with a new generation of Cummins ISZ diesel engine. ISZ engine can enhance the thermal efficiency of 6-10% based on meeting the National VI Standard.

Vehicle weight will be lighter.On the specified road and conditions, the driving efficiency will increase 45%, and vehicle fuel consumption will reduce 30%.
